Maine's only short track speedskating club, Great Atlantic Speedskating Club came to be in 2002 when a few locals got inspired to learn after watching the Winter Olympics. The club includes recreational skaters and those who compete around New England, Canada, and nationally, too.
Go ice skating on a local pond or outdoor rink, then hit a nearby bar, restaurant, or inn for a hot toddy, spiked hot cocoa, or glass of wine. Whatever suits your ice skating fancy.
Inspired by the Winter Games? We all are! While it's true that most of us will never stand on the podium with a gold medal around our neck, it IS possible to experience the athleticism of the Winter Games - at least a little bit.
